Back to Bethlehem - They Met Jesus In this brief sequence of studies, the author invites us to return to the authentic message of the Bible. We are reminded that the babe of Bethlehem was born to die. He went from the cradle to the cross, for the salvation of mankind.
Is Christmas Christian? Few would disagree that Christmas has become a commercial racket. The life-style of many surely indicates that 'Christ' has been replaced by 'X', the symbol of the unknown. The pagan origins of Christmas celebration are evaluated in the light of New Testament teaching.
The True Christian Safe Sex Guide The HIV crisis is a symptom of the collapse of moral values. This leaflet sets out in a faithful but compassionate way the teaching of the Word of God on the vital subject of human sexuality.
The Bible & Homosexuality This controversial subject is challenging Christian attitudes world wide. Some Christians are attempting to justify the toleration of gay ideas on Biblical grounds. This leaflet sets out the true Christian view in a faithful and compassionate way.
Biblical Baptism As an ex-baptist pastor, Dr Clifford sets out his case for the reformed view of this important subject. The subjects and mode of baptism are clearly and charitably discussed within the context of covenant theology. The Baptist view provides the children of Christians with a lesser status within the visible Church than Old Testament children enjoyed. They are in spiritual limbo! This leaflet also shows that immersionism cannot be proved from the New Testament.
Jesus Heals The current preoccupation with physical healing involves a fundamental misunderstanding of the Gospel. Even those whom Christ raised from the dead died again. This leaflet reminds us that the Gospel chiefly concerns the salvation of our souls. Our greatest need is for pardon and renewal, repentance and faith. The complete redemption of body and soul awaits our Saviour's glorious return!
Jesus Christ, Saviour for all seasons, Man for all Millennia Christians are under pressure to question the uniqueness of our Lord Jesus Christ. This multi-faith madness must be resisted. This leaflet explains why Christ is in a 'league' of His own! Once the Bible's testimony to His glorious deity, tender humanity, all-sufficient grace and supreme authority is grasped, the 'competition' simply fades away.
God our Refuge Sometimes life can be tough. Christians are not immune from trouble and tragedy. Even unbelievers who accuse us of using religion as a 'crutch' are not as self-sufficient as they pretend. The words of Moses in Deuteronomy 33:27 are a great comfort, inviting us to find refuge in the living God.
A National Scandal The National Lottery is a national scandal. It is state sponsored selfishness; Government led worship at the shrine of godless gain, promoted by blatantly blasphemous advertising.
Charismatic Confusion Corrected One can only warn that the Charismatic movement is dangerous. It undermines the authentic, historic, apostolic faith. Its stress on the experiential at the expense of the doctrinal issues of the faith misses the emphasis of the New Testament. However, true doctrine will lead to true experience. This leaflet sets out the true meaning of Paul's words. It also warns against the dangers of the Alpha course and its deceptive ecumenicity.
Becoming a Christian So, you are convinced that you are a sinner in need of salvation, and you want to become a Christian? That's wonderful! You have heard or read the 'good news' of John 3: 16. You have discovered that Jesus, the Son of God came into the world to die for you and bring you peace with the holy, sinhating but merciful and sinner-loving God of the universe. Now you need to know what to do next.
Europe for Christ British Euro-scepticism operates on two levels. In political terms, UK citizens are rightly concerned at the undemocratic character of EU institutions and their highly-centralised bureaucracies. The proposed new Constitution of the European Union ought to alarm all who value the political heritage of the United Kingdom. In religious terms, British Protestant Christians have just cause to suspect the on-going politicoreligious aspirations of the Roman Catholic Church.
NRC manifesto What we do and do not believe This leaflet is designed to provide a brief statement of our convictions in the context of current religious thought and practice.
Stress King David, 'the man after God's own heart' knew what it was to be 'stressed out' and 'falling apart'. On one occasion he wrote: 'In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears' (2 Sam. 22: 7/ Psalm 18: 6). David's faith was sometimes weak but far from futile.
Road Map None can deny that we live in a turbulent and vicious world. Conflict and animosity - personal, domestic, religious and political - are commonplace. The arms industries of the world have plenty of customers. Despite highpowered diplomatic activity by the UN and other agencies, the human appetite for war seems unquenchable. Indeed, popular TV and video entertainment suggests there is a mass market for violence.
War and Peace King David, 'the man after God's own heart' knew what it was to be 'stressed out' and 'falling apart'. On one occasion he wrote: 'In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears' (2 Sam. 22: 7/ Psalm 18: 6). David's faith was sometimes weak but far from futile.
Who's for Heaven? Heaven is the crowning glory of the Christian Faith and the climax of the Bible?s message. Without it the Gospel is no gospel, a message concerned only with the here and now. Yet our Saviour's promise could not be clearer: "In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14: 1-2).
Thinking of Drinking? Let us walk properly,...not in drunkenness, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Biblical reasons for avoiding alcohol abuse
China for Christ A leaflet with the Beijing Olympics in mind.
Devious Dawkins, or Creation Not Evolution Some years ago, before he achieved his more recent celebrity status, I wrote to Dr Richard Dawkins after one of his radio statements. I challenged his aggressively-atheistic anti-creationism on strictly scientific grounds.
Credit Crunch The current global credit crisis is shaking the world, especially the wealthy West. Insecurity and anxiety are being felt everywhere. The cause of the problem is not merely economic but our spiritual and moral values - or rather the lack of them. In short, we are the victims of our greedy, selfish and often immoral materialism.
Christ, Children and the Church A Bible study on Matthew 18: 1-14, particulary topical in view of recent news items.
Infant Salvation What happens to the souls of those who die in infancy? Dr Clifford argues for the view that they are saved.
Good News for Gays A leaflet prepared especially for a Gay Pride March in Norwich in July, 2009.
Jehovah's Witnesses: a pseudo-Christian Cult A leaflet exposing the cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses and offerring the Christian and Reformed response to them.
